don\'t want to flame any builder at the moment, just want to understand if this is the standard  of customer service , you get when you are about to spend £5k!!

Mine took 2 weeks (engine delivered to WGT in back of fiesta).  Would have been quicker but they had to source new rotor housings.

It really depends on circumstances...

If someone has made an effort to fit you in if they are busy then it\'s slightly different.  There are lots of factors which may influence the time it takes to rebuild and engine - perhaps there\'s a part they need to replace that\'s causing the delay.  Perhaps once they took the engine apart it needed more work than the builder realised?

I know the apex seals in my engine took a few weeks to arrive.  All these things can delay a rebuild.

I would say that anything between 4-6 weeks is acceptable... but that\'s me.

i could understand the delay - if parts had to be ordered- but the car has sat in the premises of builder since the 21st June and nothing has been touched with the car!!!

Mine took a long while (8 weeks all in I think) but I did specifically say I was in no hurry, had to wait for seals to turn up, had porting and 3mm seals. Also I think the place in question is one of the busiest in the country so I\'d anticipated it wouldn\'t be a quick turnaround. Yeah it could have been quicker in an ideal world, but I\'d rather wait and have it done to the highest standard than take it somewhere less busy. I was able to be pretty relaxed about it as I don\'t rely on it for a daily drive and it had been dead for a few months by that point anyway.

Did you ask the builder what the turnaround time would be ?

If so, and if it has exceeded the time he quoted have you asked him why it hasnt been done yet ? There might be a good reason ?

True but remember they could have ordered seals and so on without touching your car...

i think i just need to re-calibrate myself around time lines for rebuilds on the car, i was expecting a quick turnaround in 2-3 weeks for it to be complete

but the guy is a very busy and one of the best- i just need to wait

better fill the 406 diesel up again ,:Yawn

on the positive side look how much $ saving on fuel :D

Every time I\'ve had an engine rebuilt (twice) I\'ve always said, I need the car back by this time, can you do it?

If they can\'t, go somewhere else.

However, I\'m fortunate enough to leave within an hour and a bit\'s drive from a few of the top engine builders.
