Engine Rebuild DIY Costs

Hi chaps.. I am looking at becoming an Rx-7 owner.

As I have heard all about the problem with rotary engines I would like to know what I should expect to pay for a good second hand engine and gearbox.. and Also how much a DIY engine rebuild would cost.. and roughly what parts does it require.. Just a quick break down please. I have worked on engines befor and I am kean to have a look inside a rotary and do a rebuild. However I would like a rough idea of what I am letting myself in for!
I have heard engine rebuilds by specialists are £2500 upwards?
