hey guys not been on for a while got the rx on the road a week ago and clocked up 800 miles :driving  but ive noticed a few things and wanted a second opinion.

1. the gear shifter ie the metal rod that the gear knob screws on to gets very very hot is this normal?

2. where can i get a new hand brake cable? it\'s just failed an mot on the hand brake :2Mad looks a bit like the self adjusting mech is stuck any ideas on this?

3. the previous owner said that the idle had been changed when a de-cat pipe was fitted i have refitted a cat (to prevent boost spikes) should it be re-adjusted?

4. the second turbo only spools when it wants to i\'ve bought a pressure/vac tester to sort it out, but it seems to work when the car has just got up to temp, any ideas on where to start.

On the plus side when it does work properly its epic, i just love it:Giggle

Thanks in advance people,
Adam

sorted out the brakes it was the self adjuster but any one any ideas on any thing else?

Idle probably only was changed by it having less restriction on the exhaust. Not actually sure you can manually change it unless you have a power fc.

The gear nob shouldn\'t be getting really hot. When was the last time you changed the oil in the box ?? Do you know if the heatshield over the gearbox is in position ?

Can\'t really help with the turbo, what condition are they in ? Could be dodgy vac line, sticky wastegate. List goes on !

was it a new cat?
if not it could be the extra restriction of a cloged cat. failing that if you have been close to the rats nest it could be a pipe/solanoid.
the easy fix is go non sequential, do a search there is loads of info.

I would expect a metal gear knob to get warm, i.e. hot to touch but not like you have to move your hand away.

Heatshield could have been removed by previous owner, e.g. if it was rattling alot

thanks guys i\'ll take it up to work and change the gear box oil, and come to think about it i can\'t remember seeing a heat sheild! (once it\'s been for the sodding retest) let you know how i get on :Thumbsup!

LeedsLad

got it through the mot and found the leak but i won\'t tell you what it was (because it was all my fault!)

Was it the cause of that noise i said i didnt have ? :Hammer
I woof in your general direction.
