After rebuilding my engine, i took it for a nice country drive.I\'ve noticed that the knock levels had peeked to 58 on the commander. I obviously kept off bost and under 3000rpm. The car has been standing for 2 months. It did have V power in the tank but this may have lost some of the octane levels by now. Would rebuiiding the engine cause the timing to alter in any way? What sort of level is a \'safe\' level? and what would cause it?

the knock sensor can ocassionally become faulty and give false readings. The main thing is if the mapping has been done right then you should have nothing to worry about. The readings on mine are ridiculous... sometimes 25 on 0.8 bar then it might jump to 170 just taking off at the lights in first gear with no boost... :2Confused

ignore the knock when your off boost, it makes no difference you wont det while off boost, wait till you run it in and get it mapped.  I got rid of the knock sensor on all of my engines,  i found it makes no difference to whats actually happening.  I think you will find the tuners dont take much notice either if the tuning is good,
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Don\'t most people chuck on the standard ECU for running in as they wont hit positive boost? Or does it not make any difference?

D1 WTF
