This is a long one but .....

Basically my car was sitting there for like 6 months, then when i went to start her up she started up fine however i was told to either drain or drive out the old fuel. So i drove the car however filled up before the reserve light come up.

After a few weeks i started her up few days ago and she ran perfect, was driving, floored it in 1st/2nd (not pushing too hard just mildly) then when i eased into 3rd the car lost power and sounded like **** (lawn mower). Another problem i didnt get around to sorting was my ****ty battery, so i had to jump start it! I put in fresh optimax tried to start it and it would not start.

So i then eventually after pusing the car around a bit i bumped started it and she ran fine. But then after 15 mins of letting her run it cut out again. The next day i drained the fuel tank put some fresh optimax again and still did not start. So i thought it may be flooded, did the de-flooding routine and again it did not turn over, also tried bumped starting it but no go. I gave up that night towed her home and have now put a brand new battery on there! Tried starting the car but no go, however the battery has made a huge difference in the speed the engine is turning over.

But now i have a feeling she is flooded again so wont fire!

I am going to do the \'De-Flooding your car\' procedure not he thread however i am a bit confused as it says to remove the Fuel Pump Relay then says (UPDATE Remove Main EGI Relay)

Just wanted to confirm do i remove both Fuel Pump Relay and EGI Relay, or do i just remove the Main EGI Relay??? PLEASE HELP

Lastly Was the power loss due to the old ****ty fuel i had from 6 months ago getting into the system and not burning or could it be that my ****ed battery was the cause of the problem????? Could it be started motor???

Remembering the car did fire up when bumped started and ran fine but then cut out???

Really appreciate any help or advice, cheers

dont want to sound glum, but who ever told you to drive it out gave bad advise.
Petrol does lose its octane rating over a period of time, so if you atarted with 98 octane in 6 months you may only have 90 or 95 octane, by driving it out you have risked having a low octane fuel, which in turn could detonate and cause a tip to go and hence you have lost compression and now wont start, my other thought is by leaving it for 6 months and no fluids to go round and protect the internals your water seals may have gone.

Either way it sounds like rebuild time.

Dont think you will get anywhere with dr flood, but good luck, I\'ll keep my fingers crossed.

change plugs get compression checked, look for bubbles in coolent with cap off and if exsaust smells sweet water seals gone

Cheers dude, just wanted to mention i have driven it quite a bit now on fresh optimax since then and its been running fine! Its only now when i have got to the bottom of my tank this has occured. Dont know if that changes anything? Also it did start up when bump starting it and ran fine but cut out again?

Are you sure the fuel guage is reading as it should? you could be running out!

Hey Bob, yeah the fuel gauge is working properly as when i drained i the needle went down and as i put in 10 litres (jerry can lol) the needle moved up!

Ok if i do de-flood the car do i take out both Fuel pump and main egi relay or just the main egi relay??????
