my mates recently bought a celica gt4 from a jap car auction and its the topic of the car nuts on who\'s gonna be the quickest! after i went out in it i was quite shocked on how well it got off the mark but the down side to it was as soon as the turbo come in and was at max power it was time to change gear again so that should help me out!
we both run full stainless exhausts and induction kits!
i cannot be defeated seens his motor was 8 grand cheaper than mine!
what do ya\'s think?

tom

and the opponent is!!!!!

J4P RX

Depends on how you are going to define quickest.

Top Speed - You
1/4 mile - Close, depending on if hes prepared to launch it.
Track - Probably you provided drivers are equal
Just a quick blast up the road - Probably you but make sure your on boost when you start.

Dont play if its raining :D

I wouldnt of thought an ST205 would be 8k less than an FD however.  How much did he pay?

i paid 13k for mine and his car was bargain of the century from the tilbury auctions he paid 3.5k plus 1.3 for SVA costs!
i\'ll have him

A mate @ work has a ST205 that\'s been a bit fiddled with (roller-bearing turbo etc), it\'s putting out 334 fly BHP @ 1.4 bar (should be able to wind it up a bit more now he has his WI in place).

He took me round donnington and it flew (he can drive and used to race formula ford on oz)... nearly wet myself the 1st time through kraner curves.  Only the caterfields were keeping up through the twisties which shows how much of it\'s the driver and how much the car.  No way I could take my FD round with that speed and survive more than a few laps!

If it\'s a stock ST205 then it\'ll be very good in the wet and very fast off the line - the clutch and tranny in them are way over-engineered (as is most toyota stuff).  The FD is somewhat lighter though and should be nimbler round bends.  It\'d depend mostly on the driver except in a drag from 30-100.  The FD should win that one no problems.

The 205 would be a nice daily driver to compliment the FD, hmmm... :)

The Celica is a lot heavier and less powerful albeit not much.

Looking at book figures they do 6.6 to 60 and top out at 148.

My money would be on the FD in every discipline - except in the wet.

FD all the way... do us proud son!:D

Seeing as an FD does 0-60 in 5 ish seconds, and as above mentioned GT4 is 6.6, ive seen figures of 6.7, the FD should be easily quicker if dry. I would also imagine past 60 the FD would just keep pulling away. I had a bit of fun with an Evo 7 the other day, up to 60-70 nothing in it, but then went past him. I reckon these FD\'s really do fly. Give it to him large!!!!

GT4s are also meant to understear.

Met a ~350BHP 205 at Goodwood last year and wasn\'t impressed - was lapping fastr than him in my MX-5 !  (o.k. was 180 BHP at the time adn I know Goodwood quite well)

J4P RX

Hmm, well I had a GT4.  Dont under estimate them and dont believe 0-60 in 6.6 seconds.  I have seen them running high 13\'s standard and thats probably giving a low 5 0-60.

I never would have said they understeered either tbh.  Just dont under estimate it thats all ;)

yup, a friend of mine has a GT4 and I went out in it the other day and was very impressed. Certainly a very quick car with good traction :cool

yesterday was the only dry day we\'ve had in ages so i met up with my mate and had a major blast on the local daul carraige way! first of all he pulled up next to me and i was in second gear at around 4 thousand RPM\'s we both nailed it and the rex just peeled off (i think he was gobsmacked).
then we both pulled up near the the lights and waited for them to turn red, then we were both sat at the lights waiting for the ambers, when they adventally turned yellow his 4wd came into play and catter pulted him off the mark but at about 40mph mark the rex sailed past in style!
if it had been a qaurter of a mile i would have blitzed it!
it was a walk in the park i tell ya!
long live the rotors!!!!!

I would have loved to see the look on his face! Shame on anyone who doubted the RX! The force is strong! Next, as they say!!!!
