Since this is an old thread, which isn\'t likely to be resurected, I\'ll post here to tell the facts:

I got a Scoot carbon bonnet from an RX-7 parts supplier in the States in 2001... Assuming it\'s the same supplier, I have to say, the quality was pretty poor! :Grrr

Hinge and bonnet catch screws go into tapped FRP (No metal to screw into!!) so it\'s a dangerous design!
So I had to fit bonnet pins for safety - also the sides lifted up like Dumbo\'s ears at speed if no clips were used!
Even with bonnet pins, when I drive the car at speed, I see the centre hump wobble!

A few years after I\'d fitted mine, I met Koseki San, who runs Scoot in Japan whilst filming Fast East & Extreme.
I showed him my copy Scoot Carbon bonnet - which made him laugh... I then looked closely at his originals. Like chalk and cheese really!

The originals have proper rain channels to take water away from the top of the engine (Which the copy ones don\'t) and are strongly made so they don\'t even need bonnet pins. This design was made by Scoot for Koseki San\'s 200 mph + run in his red RX-7 some 8 years ago in New Zealand.

As my rex rarely sees rain and lives in a Garage, I can live with it... The bonnet cost me well over £1,000 when I originally bought it and shipped it to Japan - but if you ask me, it\'s the worst quality item by far on my Rex.

Funny enough, all the other parts on my Rex are genuine and made in Japan... I\'ve never bought another copy part again since.

End of rant! :Hammer
