Newbie Needing Advice

Hi everyone.

Next weekend im buying a 1992 J reg Rx-7 Efini Twin Turbo. Its a Japanese import that has been de ristricted and converted to MPH.
It has done 45000miles and from the pictures that ive been shown the body looks in mint condition as does the engine. It seems too good to be true considering im buying it for £3,400.

Just wanted to know when i go have a look at her what are the best things to check? I heard that rex\'s usually have specific faults. Any info as to what i should be looking for will be helpful.

Also how do i know what Gen the car is, i think its 2nd but some people say it can be 3rd too.....i have no idea.

its a 3rd gen....theres a whole section in here with tipson buying a rotary.... have a read thru cos id just be repeating myself! If you can, take someone with you knows a abit about them

Impossible to tell from a pic and an arrogant tits write up (see his answer to questions). It never fails to amaze me the difference between description and reality. I have covered many hundreds of miles to see tat advertised as mint!! Pictures mean very little too. Many rx7 in red are several shades of it but some how it does not show up in pics.

You NEED to view first armed with someone who knows them or a specific checklist from the many threads on this site.

You MAY end up with a bargain but, unfortunately, the odds are against you at that price range. There are lots of cars on this site for sale with known history and known owners. Bide yor time and wait for a good one IMO.
Do not mean to scare, just want you to tread carefully so your induction to the RX world is pleasant.

i think if you are gonna go see it, you should go armed with someone who knows a bit.....or do a whole load of reading up here on what to check for and how to check for it!!

Obviously it sounds like it needs a rebuild but as long as you budget for that then you just need to check bodywork, interior and other mechanics other than engine.

What are you aiming to buy it for as it didn\'t get any bids at £3500?
All the best whatever you decide but don\'t buy the 1st 1 you see as to get an idea drive a few there is a massive difference between a good one and a money pit! :Thumbs-up
