just a quickie

just been repalcing a rod on the clutch pedal (fd) and noticed a switch of some kind and broke the white prong/peg off and was just wondering what it did? Just taken  the car round the block and all seems ok. Any idea of what the switch does?

Being a bit more explicit may help bud i suspect its the clutch switch which tells the ecu when the clutch is pressed but without a more detailed description or pic thats only a (un)educated guess.
