dear all,

Long time ago, I droped a message, that my ex. girlfriend has an accident with her RX-7FC N/A. The bodyshell was useless after the accident, couse of a realy stupid damage. I have had a bodyshell of FC Turbo II (S4) with a broken engine. So I\'ve done the conversation. I took the engine out of the damaged N/A and put it into the TurboII shell. Couse the wiring harnes from the N/A is diferent as Turbo II (ignition, etc...) I put the wiring harnes from N/A into the TII. I\'ve changed the ECU, (of couse) and put the TII clutch onto the N/A engine. Also the gearbox is TII one.

Nearly everything fit fine, except the wiring of the gearbox. The gearbox-switch from N/A is closer to the engine as the switch from TII box. So I left the switch disconnected couse the wires from N/A are not long enogh.

After all work done, I\'ve put the car for a long run. Everything looks fine, except the economy. I get about 8mpg !!!. The reactor is red all the time, wich is a sign to me, that the car is running very rich.

I know that the gearbox-switch will infuence the air/gas ratio, but still unshure, if it\'s the reason for my very bad economy.

Any ideas, about what this could be?

Thanks and REgards,
Iwan

PS. The cars economy was OK befor the conversation. But they is everything the same, except the shell and gerabox.....

i know nothing but surely if you\'ve changed ECU it\'s that  which is controlling the fueling & needs mapping or whatever so it isn\'t drinking unecessary fuel?
Si (guessing feel free to mock me )

cheers m8,

the ECU is out of the N/A..... so no change to ECU.....

The ECUs do use gear input as part of the fuelling calculations, so if they are not connected then it will have an effect. Doubt it would be that much but stranger things have happened.

Iwan - have you checked the Timing?  you using a crank angle sensor? (don\'t think it came with that model).

But the timing may be retarded if the cat is red all the time.

Does it have much power?
Thanks,

Iwan

Hi Glenn,

I know about this on TII, happens when you put T on L, so the ignition was the first thing I\'ve checked. T and L are both connected on the right place. I have checked the wiring of the ignition coils, tem are the same, as on my other N/A. I have checked the ignition (only with ignition light), and it is fine to. (5 / 20 the car is stock).
The N/A for AUS has crank angle, the cars for EU have distibution cap, but how ever, its all the "same".

I\'ve checked the solenoids (responsible for ignition) it works fine to. Both presure regulators on the distribution cap are working fine. Maybe I\'ve missing something, but on the things I have checked, I would like to say, the ignition is OK.

Bill, thats what I think I will do next. I\'m going to use this FC as my dayli driver, but not with this economy. The guy on the gasstation is my best friend afte years on rotary :o, I get coffee and snaks for free :D, but on this economy, I think him should give 50% off....

Hi Iwan,

Don\'t know if this will be of use but last week my car was difficult to start due to far to much fuel going in the engine and was misfiring etc l thought the ECU had reset itself ! Carl worked out it was a vacuum leak and we found a pipe to the fuel regulator was not sealing properly ??

Also l can\'t remember the set up for the injectors but if it\'s like an FD is that the secondary feed supplying the primary and pumping in to much fuel ??

Little word of warning, apparently the EGI uses more fuel than the T11 and having run both believe this is probably right mind you l loved the sound of the N/A EGI.

Hope this may help.

p.s. l have sent invites to Rotorstock to all the German and European Mazda clubs l can find but if you have contacts please would you invite them to come on our behalf

Hi Clive,
I will check the fuel destribution. The engine starts fine, without any problems, but maybe its a bit different as on FD.

I will ask German clubs about Rotorstock....

I will be there definately.

Thanks and REgards

call me dumb, but what is rotorstock?

Iwan

Hi Clive,

I\'ve droped an email to the executive comittee from the RX-7 club Europe (http://www.rx7-club-europe.de/) asking about Rotorstock, now waiting for answers. I\'m personaly not a member of this club, but them have many members here in Germany and outside. Them have many members from Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria... so them are the best place to invite many people.
I don\'t like the name of the club, RX-7 Club Europe... I think the "Europe" is a bit strange in the name. There is only a German website, but no website in english for visitors from other countrys.

I will drop a post on they forum. Will do it in english (I hear some people screaming "ohh noooo ! dont do that with your english :eek " but I will do that :D )

Clive, maybe you can support me :D ! Will PM you the URL of my Post. Also will do so on Swiss RX-7 Club Forum.

To my prblem with my economy. I have connected the wires to the gearbox-swich. First drive after that: no change to economy. So it must be something else. I think about the air flow meter, maybe I put the TII meter ?! Will check that.
I have chenged the plugs. I\'m running all 9\'s, but I\'m shure, it cant be the problem.  9\'s are definitely to warm for N/A  but I don\'t race the car, so it should be OK.
Any more ideas ?

Thanks and REgards

wirepounder

did you put the na pump in you gas tank or are you running a t2 gas pump?also do you have cats on your car if you do are they plugged up .a t2 pump will make your car run very rich if it is stock..good  luck :wave
