The symptoms are keeps loosing water, where from im not sure at the moment i have to keep topping it up everytime after a hard canning! Also the collant smells of petrol>? the car now doesnt idle very well and cuts out when hot before the timer kills it!

any help is much appreicetated

This aint good, Your best of having it Coolant Pressure tested.

But the fact you can smell Fuel in the Coolant,Loosing coolant and Poor runing points towards a Bad water seal or Water seal retaining Groove.

Check the Passenger footwell to make sure its not the heater matrix leaking.

Symptoms dont sound good I\'m afraid.

Is it defo Fuel in the Coolant? Its not just Anti freeze you can smell?

Mr_7

you cant see water fuel seperation! just when u take the cap off its smells of fuel, however it doesnt really smoke white even under boost to indicate that its mixing it. the whole car just runs rich as hell i have another ecu to out on it, but i know thats not gonna cure the water symptom.

the engine has been rebuilt around 2000m ago and hasnt had any problem so far been on track etc etc. its deffo not the matrix the water comes from the left wing header and only drips when its been canned. i can pressure test this my self but what should i look for? just pressure drop?

Grizzly

What i sugest you do is Pressure up the system and leave it for a Cupple of hours, If the pressure drops check the water level if thats low pull the plugs out and turn the engine over slowly backwards by Hand and look for any water coming out of the Plug holes.

You may also want to put a new pair of Rad caps on it (Its a Common fault of Coolant loss)
