Help!!!!!

Hi,

I\'m on the beg looking for some free help/advice.
I brought a 95 R2 approx 2 months ago which appears to be standard except an Apexi back box. Since having it it has poped and farted when backing off. For some reason, I think fuel is being dumpped into the exhaust.

I did some digging around and the back box was well on it\'s way. I\'ve ordered a new Blitz NUR spec R but it\'s taking 6 weeks to be delivered so in the mean time I\'ve had it welded and am happy it definatly isn\'t blowing from there.

Since doing this (had it welded) it is still popping and instead of smelling pure fuel I can now smell exhaust gas. When knocking around town for a few minutes it starts struggling to idle and stalls but isn\'t a problem when out and about.

I\'ve checked the rest of the exhaust and can\'t see it blowing from anywhere.

Has anyone ever had a simular problem? Any ideas what it could be? I\'ve considered it could be an air leak or faulty sensor but wouldn\'t know where to start checking. Is somebody going to hurt me and tell me it\'s seal of tips!!!!

What mods are you running???
Popping and banging as you have said is fuel being dumped when you come off boost. My FD does it to order and it sounds Greatttttttttttt. The stalling may well be a boost pipe thats come off.

Does she start from hot every time??

Other than the back box the only other thing I can see is a Greed replacment hose between the plastic intake pipes and the engine and a vacuum pressure boost gauge.

Yeh starts first time every time hot, cold etc.

Check your boost sensor - check to make sure the vacuum line hasn\'t come off, or that there\'s nothing wrong with the electrical connection. Problems with this are quite common, and can cause symptoms similar to what you are experiencing.

Cheers, I\'ll do some digging on how and have a look.

Oh yeh the other thing is I was getting a massive 8mgp prior to the exhaust being welded, at that I was driving steady 90% of the time with the odd blast on my way home from work. It\'s a bit better since the exhaust but still think I\'m only getting 10mpg.


Think I need a shed to go to and from work in.

Well thats the good news. If you had a tip etc going/gone thats the first sign, so relax. Up your neck of the woods the you only really have WGT ( see above for location ).
There are many things that it could be. The easy way is to let a sorted RX7 garage give it the once over. I live in Daventry J16 M1, but I only use RE:WORX ( as above ) down in Portsmouth.
Have you used any of the above garages for any work, ie you are already a customer?? The RX7 family is a small one and every body is there to help. Up to you but give either one of them a call for some advice. But if it was me I would book it in for a health check ref this problem and I sure they will be able to sort it for you.
Most important thing is don\'t panic. It sounds something simple. There are a lot of well versed people on here and advice will be free. How much mechanical knowledge do you have??

I have spoke to WGT who waere very helpful with general tech info. The oil light came on after doing a few miles n i S**t myself but at that time I didn\'t know they injected oil into the engine, they put me right and I was on my way again with a smile from ear to ear.

I was hoping to get this sorted myself before pushing it over to them for a general check over.

I\'ve always worked on my own cars which included a few more common Jap\'s and can fit most things but when it comes to diagnostics I just havn\'t got enough experiance/knowladge and don\'t like wasting money and guess buying parts.

All the help is appriciated and if it\'s not sorted in the next week or so then It\'ll def be booked into WGT as I like my cars running mint.
