17" But 8J Fitted with 255!! Need Advice

Got my wheels this morning, already fitted with:

Front 235 x 40 x 17
Rear  255 x 40 x 17:2eek

I was after this size set up, but they are on blinkin 8J\'s! :2Mad

Front obviously ok, but will I be able to get away with 245 x 40 x 17 on the rear?
& will the handling be fine?

Couldn\'t see a major problem as I\'ve seen 285 60 15 on an 8" rim, granted it was on a 4x4 !!!

yeah and ive run 255 on an 8j 18" rim before without any problem

Cheers guys most encouraging, though how you get a 285 on an 8J boggles the mind.
