Hi all,

I\'ll keep this short as its annoying me :)

Basically car has been off the road for 18 months.

I\'ve done the vacuum hose job; installed braided fuel lines a new D/P and a CAT Back system.

I\'ve got everything (pretty much) back on and when I start the car she fires up fine, there is a funny metallic clunking noise coming from the area of the CAT so I assume something is vibrating down there or something isn\'t sealed :( - least of my worries atm...

Anyway the engine runs but it sounds like its really struggling, eventually the revs drop, it slows and then completely cuts out.

I don\'t have a CEL light on the dash but then I don\'t see it when I turn the ignition on, its been so long since I drove the car that I can\'t remember if it comes on when the key is turned and then goes out when the car is started... if its meant to then I guess I\'ve got a bulb out, easily sorted and might point me in the right direction.

Anyone have any suggestions? as to why the engine might be cutting out?

I\'m thinking fuel starvation (ie. pinched hose maybe, unlikely though), vacuum issue (unlikely tbh as I was very thorough) or one rotor isn\'t firing...

What does a car sounds like when there is detonation/fuel starvation and if a rotor is out??

Thanks

Dave

Can\'t say I\'m not over the moon :D

I finally got the bugger unflooded, I had to pull the plugs 3 times, crank the engine, inject a ****load of 10-40 into the leading chambers to help build compression up and then finally :3gears-rh :D

She\'s smoking a little in the video as she was still clearing her lungs and burning the excess fuel and oil,  20 minutes later this had all cleared up; she sounds damn sweet now which is a relief.

Can\'t say I\'ve not had my scares today, this failed and still flooded moment scared the **** out of me; my first experience of a back fire. (The camera didn\'t really capture the volume of it, or maybe I\'m soft)

And this was the initial start-up, with something not firing properly.  Luckily after a huge cough and splutter she cleared up.

Just need to fix the rev counter, speedo lights, fit the new water bottle and fog light and I can finally go for my MOT!  A session at Donnington park just might be on the cards :)

It may be worth your while getting it Compression tested, there is usaly a reason these things Flood (Leaking injector,Low comp, bad coil pack,Bad plugs etc)

The noise before it cleared is what an Fd sounds like when it drops a Tip, it is also the sound of one well flooded Rotor (No-Low comp on one rotor)

Aye, I\'ll be getting her compresion tested when I go for the MOT.

Started her today, she fired first time, no smoke, no nasty noises so I\'m a happy chap atm :D

She had been standing 18 months before I started her and then it was on old fuel and stupidly I didn\'t let her get warm.

The engine was fine 18 months ago, but had a leaky turbo line so I took the decision to strip it down, fingers crossed all will be well.

Dash is now fine too, just need a foglight and a new washer motor and off I go :D
