Hi all,

Got a question for ya\'s.

Went to the lake district today - first distance run in the car since i bought it from a member on here (Kermit).
Anyway - was fine if a little twitchy compared to my last car (is this normal?) but anyway...
I was doing around 70 when i made the move to leave the motorway off onto the slip road. I turned in from the slow lane and turned the car back to a straight position and thats when it happened.

If any of you have expeienced a good fishtail - well it was like a mini one of those. The car kind of \'wobbled\' from left to right and back again a good few times before i had dropped enough speed to correct it. It wasnt a massive twist it was more like a gentle but scary weaving. I doubt the car moved more than a foot each way but it was a touch disconcerting.

Could this be tracking or something more serious? maybe a power steering issue?

Any help apreciated as I will be keeping the car off the motorway until I get it sorted (scared the hell out of the wife btw lol)

Thanks in advance.

Get it in to Pip and have the susspension and bushes checked.
Doubt its steering or tracking
Make sure your not running Jap rubber to

Sure you haven\'t just got a soggy tyre because this is the symptom you describe ?

Yep, my mate had a spin in his S2000 as one of his tyres had dropped to 26psi, check that first.  Check your tyre pressure weekly.

I concur with the above - would never think that so much handling can be lost for a few psi difference on one wheel.:Hammer

Weekly check of all 4 tyres is a good plan to have.:yes

Could be as simple as bad road surface - tramlining in lorry ruts or odd camber.  These toys are pretty sensitive to that...

I have this terrible in my car at the moment, usually is bushes having excess play.  I have 1 of these shot at the moment and my wheel alighnment is terrible!

I had this and found I had been running on a flat tyre for several days due to a large screw in the tyre. Gotta say, run-flats rock, in that respect!!!

Another thing to consider is possible greasy road surface. Sounds a bit like tyres though. The first tyres I had on my car were Jap imports and they were so hard they were almost brittle. Nothing to do with tyre pressures; they just didn\'t grip. Gave me a few scares before I changed them!!!!:2eek. From your description it doesn\'t sound like you were accelerating hard at the time so likely to be tyres or road surface or combination of both.
FD or not FD? that is the question.

eeek ive been running jap tyres for about 3 weeks lol and drove 800 miles in 2 days on them lol. Better hurry and buy some alloys.
