Anyone know what the cooling water system capacity is on the first gen 7? Flushed the system on mine today and filled it with 5 litres of water thinking it would take another 5 litres of coolant and antifreeze but i could only get another 2 litres in. I thought the total capacity was closer to 10 litres. Have tried running the car to normal temp to get any air pockets out but it seems full to the max. :3Confused
Only thing I can think of is the engine and rad didnt drain fully but there was nowt more coming out of the water drain and bottom rad hose.

Oh yeah, anyone know of a good cheap coolant (payed £16 for 5 litres today, ug!)

Just had a look in the Haynes manual and the capacity is 9.5 litres with heater and 8.5 without heater. Have you tried parking the car facing uphill and then run it.

Well, after a few days driving the car, the coolant level hasn\'t dropped after having only taken 7 litres of coolant after flushing the system. I think the only explanation is that it didn\'t drain completety (or the engine is full of rusty gunk). No overheating issues so not gonna worry about it and as its an old engine, any gunk in the block is probably best left in there as it\'s probably taken over the job of the water seals by now :Laugh

Out of interest, if anyone is doing a water change on an old first gen soon, measure how much water comes out of the system and this might shed some light.
