Eddie

Can anyone tell me what this is please.
The exact wording was
nearside rear upper suspension arm has excessive play in pin bearing

Can anyone advise me please, and tell me if you know of anyone thats sells the part apart from Mazda

Thanks

Could be wrong but this could be one of the bushes in the rear suspension - if it is then the vendors at the top should be able to sort you out :)

I think they may mean a Upper pillow-ball bearing/bush, (not sure) Had both mine done earlier in the year, if your handy with some spanners it doesn\'t look too bad a job,
good luck,

When you complete an MOT you have to chose from a number of descriptions, some are just the closest thing you can find.

another great step forward for technology... whats wrong with letting them write it in ? Best bet is to give the chap a ring and ask

Eddie

Thanks for the info.

Mike I agree  and ringin him was my first thought.
The nice MOT guy was busy telling me its all computer generated now, and I forgot to ask him.
When I got home and it had sank in I rang them only to find out the MOT guy has gone on holiday for 2 weeks (bugger)

So its maybe a bush or Upper pillow-ball bearing I would jack the car up and look for myself but I have no idea what I am looking for.
If I did know then I am handy with the tools now and would do it my self.

Looks like I will have to do the other little things and take it back in two weeks for him to show me what he\'s on about.

but if anyone has any pics of the rear suspension setup and wants to mark the area\'s people have mentioned I will have a look.

Thanks for all your input.

Cheers

ermm whats wrong with taking you underneath the car and showing you the culprit?

Eddie

I am sure he would take me under the car but hes not in for 2 weeks now and I was hoping to get it sorted by then so I can take it in for a retest.

Something that may work, (it did on mine!) is to jack the rear wheel off the ground, grab the wheel top and bottom and try and pull it out towards you at the top then push it back in again, firmly! shake it all about, you may feel the loose bearing if it\'s pillow ball bush, most likely to be top one has a bit of play in it,if you grab the front and rear of the tyre do the same thing, if there is any play there, that may be another smaller pillow ball bush on the toe link!
good luck Bob

They are a very common fault bearing (no pun intended) they are approx 10 years old.

Ok, I meant DURING the MOT.

Eddie

He side tracked me telling me how nice my car was:) it was the only thing I forgot to ask about as he did not tell me whilst he was checking it it just turned up on the sheet at the end.

Are well I shall have a play and check what the others have mentioned.

THanks for all your advise chaps.
