Hi Everyone

I\'ve got everything connected up after my engine change, and tried firing her up last night. No joy.

All stock, no mods
She cranks
Has good oil pressure. Needle sits at top of gauge
Good compression. 6 bar cold and not been run for a year.
Has fuel pressure.
New plugs and leads
Good battery. Cranks the motor round nice and quickly
Earthing seems good. I\'m going to double check it this evening.

I can\'t smell any fuel in the exhaust even after cranking repeatedly.
Haven\'t checked for spark yet. Seemed a bit redundant if there\'s no fuel.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I\'ll get round to checking for spark tonight, ran out of energy after fighting with the clifford alarm from hell before I could crank her. :reallymad

Got the battery on charge for another go tonight, so I\'m trying to gather a few ideas for things to check. I was thinking of putting an oscilloscope on one of the injector lines, but they\'re so damn inaccessible!
The crank sensor was one thing that did occur to me. Couldn\'t think of many things that would cause a complete lack of fuel. Maybe the supply to the injectors (I\'m guessing the ECU pulls them to ground like other fuel injection systems).
Is there any fault condition that makes the ECU cut fuel if it occurs? OMP for example? I\'m just musing now... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I won\'t have to re invent the wheel chasing the problem down.
I had enough doing that while fitting a megasquirt to an MR2 last year...

Cheers

hi
first i would look at fuel pressure and all connections.... but i think you mentioned you have tried these

next i would look at the CAS sensor, there two round barrel shaped sensors next to each other at the front of the engine, down by the bottom crank pulley.
The sensors are slightly to the right of the pulley.
follow the wires out of the back of them to were they plug in and check the connection.
If that\'s ok take a look at the round plate on the back of the crank pulley ... its got like spokes in it and on the outside has a piece of metal sticking out, so at it rotates the piece of metal passes these sensors. ... this is what triggers one of the sensors.
If the plate has not been fitted or the bit of metal has snapped off your fuel system will not work at all.
if there ok i eant got a clue
Cheers Brett

Cheers Brett. Turned out to be the igniter. I hadn\'t plugged it it. DOH!
Still, it didn\'t really cause me too much hassle to find the problem. I just missed it on my rounds double checking the connectors.
She fired up first time, very clean, once I\'d plugged it in. Idles quite nicely. Got a small oil leak from the connection that runs to the oil coolers, situated right under the battery. Think it wasn\'t pushed home properly, so i\'ve re-seated it, and hopefully all will be well for the next run tomorrow. :D :3gears-rh
