hey guys after fitting my engine its gone all wrong, it struggles to start you have to crank for around 5-9 seconds then when it catches you have to hold idle at around 1500-2000 to prevent it from stalling and its very very lumpy  drove it up the road and doesnt want to drive eg low power.

once its running it smoke petrol out the exhaust like its washing the bore and it stinks, i have seen this engine running and know its good the only things i kept from my old one is ecu and coil lead (coils leads iv checked)

it has a good strong spark good fuel delivery and good compression, so i changed the plenum with my old one as its had secondary butterflys removed that didnt cure it. Im now lost for ideas could it be ecu? blocked cat?

Hello matey....

Is the engine rebuilt????  when i re installed mine it ran like a bag of spanners for about 10 mins i i could not keep it ticking over.  After speaking to pip at WGT he said you have to run it for a good 15-30 mins before it should start running right.  You have to keep the revs at about 3000-4000....thats what i did and it worked....

Might help but probably won\'t

adam i just spkoe to the guy i bought it off hes had three he said that everytime the ecu had been off for a while it would run like this it gives the syptoms of one rotor or missing, he said basicly the same as what ur saying.

clean the plugs fill it with optimax and octane booster and hold it at 3 grand for 10mins im gonna try this later so il let you know cheers

Adam

Let me know how you get on :)

Cheers

hey guys just to let you know that worked dont understand it but it worked which is good new proble is:

at 0.1-0.2 bar of boost the car backfires violently and will not pick up it will backfire as long as you keep the throtlle down you can only drive it at 1/5th throttle is this map sensor? nest?

Sounds like oil metering pump is faulty which makes the ecu go in limp mode.
Alternatively check vacuum hose going to map sensor that it is not split or disconnected from plenum or the sensor.

Check cables from your batter make sure they is no loose connection or damaged cable arcing out.

Verify ht leads are connected correctly. Looking from front of the car, the nearest coil to you should go to the front rotor trailing plug hole, the next coil which has two ht leads connected, the top ht lead should go to leading plug hole on front rotor the ht lead below should connect to leading plug hole on rear rotor. The coil nearest bulkhead will connect to trailing plughole on rear rotor.

Hope this helps some.

yes the coils and leads are all connected in the right way its runs nice its not missing any more its just when its driveing.

you can rev the engine up in nuetral and its lovely soon as its under load at 0.1-0.2 bar of boost it backfires constantly untill you fully depress the accelerater. the map sensor work as when u disconnect it stall iv done resistance test they all came back good.

i was told to brigde the TEN and GND pins in the DIA socket then disconnect the battery and leave for ten mins this should remove surface static in the ecu? once this is done i should regain boost is this pooh? im trying it at mo

I\'m with Brian on this, i had exactly the same problem with my T2 when i damaged the OMP plug, it ran well but as soon as you get in near boost it popped and banged.

Sorry I don\'t know anything about the mods on your car.
What fuel pressure reg you running? what the fuel pressure at idle,
What size primary injectors you running?
what ecu? what injetcor settings do you have on the ecu?
was it running fine with the same ecu map before rebuild?
stock car or modified?
doe you have a wide band? if so what are afr doing when it\'s backfiring and breaking up?

Mr_7

just for information really i did as told by that guy cured it instantly he seems very clued up hope if any one has this trouble worth trying easy and fast
