hi
yesterday i took my rex to a rolling road coz was interested in finding out the bhp.
last year i did same test but found i only had 221bhp. after going away replaceing the power wires to fuel pump for increased speed on pump and removing the secondary throttle i found the car was much improved,so took him back yesterday for another test coz i was interested and found that the bhp was the same now baring in mind this car has had serious mods in japan for example: uprated injectors,t04 turbo, big bore exhaust system apart from cat, chipped ecu, flywheel lightened well its had a bit.
the compressions were checked last year and they were all around 7.0
does anyone out there have any ideas coz im scratching my head and thinking of getting rid
the guy at rolling road said the turbo tails off slightly but it does spool up to pressure also he thinks that it might be over fueling thus ruducing power
dont know
PLEASE HELP:mad:

Where was the rolling road? If it wasn\'t an RX specialist, get yourself down to RE:Worx in pompey, it\'s only 40 mins away, they have a rolling road and will tell you exactly what is up with the car, guaranteed :)

Or nip down to Tim\'s in Blandford for a slightly less high tech but probably equally expert diagnosis. (how Tim manages it with his wooden spanners and donkey powered welding gear, i\'l never know :))

oh it was some one local to me to save traveling to far s,r,e amesbury do you think the cat could be blocked as its still the original it starts fine hot and cold and feels like its got some umth.

I guess the garage didn\'t measure your afr\'s then?

Most have that ability these days!

What T04 is it? They range from fairly small to fairly large!

How much boost where you running?

Was the power graph smooth? where was peak power and peak torque?

How about posting up your graph?

maximtaylor

I thought you said the exhaust was free flowing! That cat will strangle a single turbo fd, even if in as new condition.

its a fairly large turbo dont really know what it is the inlet on the turbo is 5.0 hope this helps if not sorry anyway the boost was 10 psi and the peak power was 220.1@154mph/6767rpm torque 199@4041rpm the only cat i can see on the car is the big one directly under the centre concole the guy in rotortechnicks told me it was the standard one.
thanks

You say chipped ECU, but what ECU is it? Is it an Apexi?  I would of thought that with those mods you would need a mappable ECU to take full advantage.

tyson23

sorry dont no what ecu it has bought it like it all i can say it came from japan like that 2 years ago,i always thought that the mappable would be better
thanks

i\'d def bite the bullet and get it booked in for a check up with a specialist, you could go on for hours on here when one look at the setup by a pro could diagnose your problem(s)
If you take the far left trim panel off in the footwell by the passenger door, you will be able to see the ECU, it should have something stamped in it, or a sticker, stock ones have a sticker will some code numbers on, the biggest code is NA37 something or other i think. Alternatively it could have Panspeed, knightsports, etc etc or possibly Apex\'i stamped on it.
