I\'ve noticed recently my car smokes an awful lot, sometimes when i start it up after not using it for about 4 days i get lots of white smoke, also after driving around for quite a while i still get a fair sized puff of white smoke out of the back, and although this isnt a major problem i still believe it makes the car less attractive and a nuisance for people behind me.

Would things like a downpipe, midpipe or hi-flow cat reduce the smoking slightly ??

Also i was in a car shop and there was a bottle of stuff you added to your engine along with your oil and it supposedly reduces smoke caused by oil, anybody have any experience with this type of product?

Thanks

I guess the First question is How is the Coolant Level? has it droped at all?

Check your coolant for leaks. White smoke is coolant. Does it smells a sweet smell as well? If it\'s blue smoke then its oil.

Check both your oil, coolant levels and check for any leaks.

It smells quite strong but it just smells like fumes not anything sweet, the coolant level is above half, and oil i check every weekend. I was told these cars smoke quite a lot but this does seem excessive, im sure nothing is leaking but i\'ll check all my pipes are on tight on the next bright and sunny day we have :)

I dont suppose a weak battery or one on the way out could contribute to smoking i.e plugs not firing properly. as mine died today.

Not sure if that makes any sense but just a thought
