This is probably going to be a stupid thread started by me here!!!

Can some one answer me this:

Mazda has always produced good solid reliable cars with few faults (non that could kill the car anyway)......... So why is the 7 notoriously crap when it comes to:

Tep gauges & Oil pressure Gauge 2 Vital displays!!

and why they put the sensors in stupid places like under the oil filter where it\'s obviously going to get plasterd in cr@p & bu*ger up the readings displayed on your dash!!!

Was it a phase....... trying to copeate with the Italian sports car scean where nothing is to be trusted on the dash!!!!

But looking back in time, they weren\'t producing the nice cars that they are now. Sad to say, but it might be down to the Ford influence.

I happen to beleive that the traditional mazda\'s were built to much better quality than ford crap.......although ford tend to be better at design these days with regards to manufacturing; something that has been possible only through improvements in manufacturing processes and design tools.
Mazda back in the day tend to rust easier, but i\'d much prefer to work on a mazda than a ford for general build quality.

chances are though, any ford you loo at back then didnt even come with oil temperature and pressure gauges ;)

Unfortunately Ford came along just when we were making the 3rd Gen. The Rotary division had been cut done to very few engineers as well. Yes it is a pity the quality of the early 3rd gens doesnt seem to be up to the standard of their other cars at that time. My 323 from 1993 has much better quality of the interior plastic bits.
Ok, if your oil gauge sender gets full of crud, then you are not keeping your engine clean :-)

touche! get the gunk engine cleaner out!

My FD is 14 years old... I\'d be suprised if the temp and pressure senders aren\'t a bit flaky!  the pressure sender is immersed in the oil so for it to get gunked up isn\'t a suprise!
