Just went and fitted a Speed M8 converter to my rex, problem is when i had all the wires spliced and re-fitted the clocks they are dead!!!

They light up fine but nothing seems to be getting a signal, no oil pressure, no rpm no speed and no trip display!!!

What is going on!!!!!??? any similar problems faced/overcome please let me know! :(

BTTT

any help guys?? the whole dash just cant go from being in 100% working condition to having no life in them whatsoever??? Are there fuses for it or what the heck is going on, bought this box to get the car mot\'d and now i\'m in total limbo land!!!

Pointman

Does this have a wire that takes a signal from the ecu ?!?

I bought the ebay unit and never had any problems at all. Hopefully someone can help you out, good luck.

wires used are 12v live, ground and then one loom side of speed sensor wire and clip side of wire.

maybe it was my fault and not the units, do you have to remove battery when doing the work, or should you not drive the car without the locks in?? I didn\'t take battery off and drove for a day with no clocks attached.

I wonder is there any other way of testing if they work without finding another FD to try them in?? There are very few here in n.ireland to check

OK i think things have gone from bad to worse.

Got myself a multi meter to see what was happening in the wires behind the dash to see why no life was coming to the dials. put key to acc position to get power but forgot i had the two wires (12v and earth) bared and they arced.

Started up the car and she seemed to go fine but then the hunting, no idle and eventual cutting out of the engine!!!

What the hell have i done now??

Anyone know of where those wires lead to from the two smaller wiring clips on the left side of the dials behind the oil, water and fuel gauges? Hope i\'ve just blown a fuse. Indicators no longer work now either. This has turned into a real melee for something so simple

Damn, you are having some bad luck with things.

I did`nt do mine myself, the work was done by my local Mazda dealer. None of the Auto-Electrical companies wanted to do it as it was a jap car !!  :xconfused

Someone on here should hopefully be able to sort you out with some info.

First thing to check as you have shorted out wires is all the fuses, what colour wire did you short out?

Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself...
But i can always do with some help now due to, my advancing years!

car seems to be running fine now, but the short was between the 12v live cable going into the clip behine the oil pressure gauge and the neutral/ground wire in clip behine the water temp gauge.

I just can\'t see how every dial and even the mileage counter arent working!!!! Totally totally baffled!!! All this and rotorstock fast approaching!!!

Anyone in the n.ireland vacinity who knows anything about this please help  :xconfused
