Pillar gauges for a TII Convertible?

Well, pending a compression test on Saturday (and hopefully a quick peek under the car if the current owner or myself can convince RoTechniks to put the car up on one of the ramps for a sec) I may become the proud owner of a TII convertible  :D.

If I buy the car I guess it would be time to stick a couple of extra gauges on, namely a more accurate boost gauge (ie one that indicates more than a general trend) and an oil temp gauge. I\'d like to put them into a pillar mount but so far all I have found are pillar mounts for FDs...

Does anybody have any suggestion where to get said beast?

Enter mini-vulture, stage left

Also, would anybody have either an airbox for a TII and/or a set of original Convertible wheels as the car has fairly tasteful aftermarket alloys on it but I do like the originals?

why do you need the air box

and are you thinking of selling the wheels if you can find some orig ones ?

you got an induction kit on there already i bet? i reckon you should try messing with some universal pillar guage holders, or adapt another set.  perhaps you can do as grinder did and use the spare DIN slot?

i might have a spare airbox in a few weeks. trade you for the induction kit?

Any pics of this beast? whats the specs on this car has it been modified much?

grinder

i would keep the induction kit on - it makes more space in the front corner :D

if you find some a-pillar ones that fit , be sure to let all the FC crew know about it !!

Well, it seems to have grown mushrooms. HKS mushrooms ;).

Well, I\'m new to this whole modding lark so where do I find unversal holders - I assume they\'re called "universal" because their fit is universally crap?

It hasn\'t got a spare DIN slot as it still has the original (Euro-spec) Mazda radio. It may not too long, tho\'.

Nah, not really - I\'d want the airbox as backup if I find the induction kit too noisy over time. Doesn\'t seem to be too bad on the test drive so it\'ll probably stay on there.

Well, it\'s ChrisTII\'s car - it is (or was) in the for sale section. He\'s got specs and pics :). The short version is - red UK-spec convertible, slightly lowered, Engine rebuilt by RoTechnicks about 15k ago. They\'ve ported it, fitted upgrade seals and presumably played with the boost a bit. No dyno numbers but guesstimate is "above 200bhp"  :D. The actual guesstimate is around 250... It doesn\'t shift half bad, that car.

So far it\'s passed all the rotary tests (cold start, smooth idleing when hot, hot start after chucking some petrol in and queueing for what seemed ages at the till). Gearbox is the smoothest I\'ve encountered so far on a T2...

It\'s got a few issues - the hood is going where they supposedly all go but it should hopefully survive this year and the remote release for boot and petrol cap have go AWOL (cables stretched, by the looks of it).

He\'s booked it for a compression test at RoTechnicks Saturday morning so we\'ll be   :3gears-rh over there. If the numbers are good, I\'ll make him an offer...

... that he can\'t refuse. Anybody got a spare horse head?  :Thumbsup!

Noise, or reduction thereof, plus the cold air intake...

I\'m a bit sensitive to noise when I\'m highly stressed out which is why I normally go for the "stealth" sound. That said, the induction sounded really nice for a change so I\'ll probably have a word with a mate of mine (who does perspex work for a living) if he can build me something like a perspex divider to keep the worst of the engine hot air off the filter.

Stu

Nope, I\'m greedy, me.  :D

I like the wheels that are on the car but I\'d also like a set of original wheels for "show" purpose. The car looks pretty much 100% original from the outside so I want to keep the mods under the bonnet...

After all, it\'s crying out for a set of SAMCO hoses as the originals, look, erm, very original...

is that the one with the front mount - im sure there was one on here a few weeks back .. although i could be wrong :D

250 isnt that hard a figure to get at the fly , a full decat exhaust , FCD , induction kit should see you on your way ( they were 202 at the fly anyways ! )

i have an induction kit on mine - and to be brutally honest - i dont think it make much of a difference to noise , the BOV does but thats about it :D

the din thing , nice and easy - have a look in the 2nd gen section for a thead called "MODS AND RESULTS" - in there is a write up about the gauges

if you do buy it - i MAY have something you want .... i will let you get the car first and speak to you later about it :D
