Brakes suddenly gone soft + spongey (FC)

Hi guys,

Brakes were fine last night but this morning they\'ve gone all soft and spongey - they do work at the end of the pedal\'s travel (but there is a lot of travel before anything happens?

Bit dark atm, what things should I check later? It\'s a 1987 FC EGI.

Sounds like a cylinder problem to me; master cylinder? What\'s the fluid level like? Does it get better after a bit of pumping?
