Speedo converter / delimiter side effects

Does anyone know if there are any negative side effects to using a unit to convert my speedo to MPH and delimit the top speed on an RX-7?

I know there are various side effects on other vehicles because the ECU uses the speed reading to control things like Power steering assistance, VVT, etc...
