Hi...

Just doing some work on my rex - is it ok to remove the second set of butterfly flaps (actually in the upper intake manifold)?
Also my throttle body is leaking water (at the back where the coolant hose joins it),is it ok to bypass the throttle body and just attach the coolant hose to the pipe underneath? :)

gavin... :)

What did you use to blank off the hole thats left on the side of the UIM..Was just thinking about cutting some threads then screwing a bolt in (obviously cut to length)..??

I have done it on mine, pretty easy to be honest gains are well not really noticable except seems a bit smoother on the acleration.

The bugger was the screws in the butterflys, i had to drill those out in the end.

Also the big hole left in the side of the UIM left from the shaft of the butterfly\'s i just plugged that with a bolt nearly the same size and exhaust instant gasket. did the job for me :)

I thought now was the best time to do it as ive been doing a fair bit of work on it before i get it maped. :)

Its a good idea...i my method of madness is read what people do to mod their RX\'s on the cheap or to solve issues and just take it apart lol

Just hope it works when i put it back has so far hehe.

But with removing the 2nd butterflys, remember not to rev it passed 3k when cold, that is the reason they were there in the first place so you could open up the throttle when the car was not properly warmed up.

i never thrash it from cold anyway so thats not really an issue :)
