Well I think insurance has just gone silly now. I have the rx7 insured with houghton insurance with all the mods making it good for 300bhp ATW for 730 quid on a classical policy. I\'m pretty happy with this.

The silly thing now is that "more than" want 320 quid a year for my 1.5l diesel pugeot 106 worth less than 1k. God i paid 420 for my rotary last year before it was modded :eek The diesel is only about 50bhp and couldn\'t rip the skin off custard

Can anybody reconmend a good company for insuring my daily runabout ???

im 27, full no claims bonus, as said for a pug 106 (m reg) worth about 1k living in PR1 area of preston.

Cheers

It was 240 on exactly the same policy with 1 year less no claims bonus. Has insurance gone up by that much ?

You\'ve seen my diesel, god its the cheapest runabout that i could own :p

i think the word "classic" makes a big difference

For me its

1 - RX7 Coupe - £268 fully comp inc breakdown ( me and g/f )
2 - Add the cab and its about £340 for both ( still me and g/f )

the rover...

3 - Rover 2.0 STDI ( turbo deisel ) - 5 yrs protected no claim .. Me and g/f .. and that comes in at £550

go figure ??? :)

I\'m in the same boat mate, they wanted nearly £500 to insure my 1.6 astra worth about £1k, that\'s about 75bhp as well!

In the end found Hoddesdon, they undercut all the main players I tried coming in at £398, like you say still sounds expensive when my RX on a non classic policy was around the £700 mark!

Cheers guys, Although i forgot to mention that that is fully comp. Just amazed at how they can ask basically what they would pay you back on a runaround if it was written off. Where is all the cash going ?????

Is 80 quid rise a justafiable rise on a no-turbo diesel ?

As I understand it, a large part of your insurance premium is associated with potential third party claims (especially for personal injury). The repair bill for even an expensive car may be quite modest in comparison with a personal injury claim. This is why insurance can seem expensive these days even for very modest cars.
FD or not FD? that is the question.
