Starter motor problem?

Hi guys....

I have a situation here. I\'m using a Pivot engine start button. Sometimes when I try to start the car, it will give me a "clunk" sound instead of the engine cranking. By pressing again or 2 more times then the engine fire up immediately.... Could it be the starter motor problem??  :xconfused
FYI, batt is in good condition.

Is it possible for me to check it the starter motor is in good working condition? How to?
