Hi chaps,

I was fitting some replacement rear speakers this morning and in the process, I removed my rear seats. To my horror, the underside of the drivers side seat was dripping wet and has caused some rust under it :(

On the upside my new speakers are a massive improvement :chat

Does anyone have any idea where this water could be coming from.

There doesn\'t appear to be any way for it to get there ????

Anyway, I\'ve sorted the rust, dried the seat and refitted it. But I am wondering if the problem is going to reoccur ??

Anyone have any ideas or experiences of this ??

Thanks in advance

the only thing i can think of is...

You know when you open the boot after a good down poor of rain?  all the water collects in the guttering level with your parcel shelf..well i reckon that the water could be trickling down behind the speaker panel, under the carpet and resting at the lowest point of the car. This is not solid info but a good guess aint it  :D

I have the exact same problem and i fixed it today although mine was passenger side.

I removed the seat and then lifted the carpet (awkward) on the floor pan, right underneath the seat was a round plate, about 3" diam, this had lifted slightly and was allowing water in, pushed it back into place, cleared the sealent that was around it and resealed with some silicon.

You can also have the problem with the weather seal in the rear window - water goes thru into the plastic & down the seats.

Sometimes it just stays in the plastic (the stuff stuck to the boot lid) and pours out when you open the boot.
