Quote from: elford_timI seriously doubt that the engine is fine on the car - it doesn\'t want to idle on its own when it\'s cold (you have to sit in the car and gently keep the revs up for a couple of minutes until it actually wants to know), plus when hot the idle is all over the place, anywhere between 800 and 1100 rpm. It does still pull reasonably well but when my Elford only wanted to idle at around 1300 it was new engine time.

I had crap idle and erratic acceleration when my TII deciced to eat the Inlet gasket - incidentally it\'s done this twice.  Although I was ending up with too much boost not lacking it   :D   Chaps from Rotechnics showed my a neat trick to diagnose this - squirt some hydrocarbons where the inlet manifold joines the main engine body - if you have a leak there you will get a sudden rise in rev\'s as it sucks in the \'fuel\' !

I agree with the comments about the boost guage as well - decided to get a real \'mechanical\' one in the end - mine never seemed to work reliably - one day it did, then it didn\'t....
