Im after a 3 bar map sensor and just wondering which is the most common/best to use?

Also spark plugs, whats the best combo for higher boost?

Ive read people use 9\'s alround and some with 10\'s and 11\'s.

Ive done a search on plugs and iridium plugs have failed a few times causing engine rebuild time, is this the case or mith?

Cheers Scott

I use HKS iridium racing 11\'s. They seem to do the job well under hard accelration. I think 10.5\'s would be just as good.

I dont know of any plugs causing rebuilds. I think typically you would pay around £125 a set in the UK. If you searched around, you could picked them up for cheaper. I paid £80 for my last set. If theres enough interest, could get a group buy. :)

I have an Apexi (Denso) map sensor, but most people fit the GM 3 Bar sensor as it is easier to obtain.

What level are you classing as higher boost?

Freedy, is that 11\'s trailing and leading?

Fish, 1.2Bar maybe more.

asp

wen do u hav to upgrade the map sensor,

rx7veilside

standard map sensor will only read up to a tad under 1.2 bar u wld prob be ok running 1.2bar with standard map sensor as i asked this question of geff at re worx.i was going to run 1.2 but as i got 494fwhp at 1.1 i thought i wld wait a bit

SCOOMER

Asp, in a couple of weeks why, you know somthing i dont :)

We use Delco 3bar\'s which is what MoTeC supply.

We sell NGK Iridium 10s and 11s by the truck load both here and down under. If there is interest we could do a GB also...

There have been reports of Denso plugs failing I think - e.g. Gary Gooding incident from recollection?? Cant say as we\'ve ever had problems with the NGKs :)

PS Scott, I think Asp was asking when the stock MAP sensor becomes inadequate for tuning, rather than when you need one :D

Thats right mate. So go on, what do you have planned? Have you changed your single turbo? :)

As Paul said, the stock one with the power fc is good for a bit over a bar. The delco 3 bars are 70+vat.

Sorry Asp didnt read your post right, just me being thick :(

Freddy, im just getting it remapped and fitting a bigger intercooler (Greddy 3 row) with water injection. Have you experienced any flooding by running colder plugs.

A few people seem to, but thats possibly related to other issues with the car too. I have 10s and 11s in my daily which does a 5 min trip into work and back 3 days a week plus a few long runs to the coast and back every couple of days. If you are running high boost then I would say cold plugs are definitely paramount. We see a lot of cars on the dyno get a bit squirly ignition-wise when the boost is cranked up, cold plugs usually does the trick unless you are shooting for real big numbers.

the gm map sensoris the easiest to find and probably the cheapest to buy too. most tuners have the data needed to put into the power fc for the gm map sensor too.
