FD seems to have lost power?

Hi,

Just fitted an HKS twin filter induction kit (super power flow). Car seems to run fine, however it doesn\'t feel as quick. When i put my foot down, it seems to have lost that kick, however when the second turbo comes in it feels fine. I have a boost gauge fitted and the boost is still running at 0.8 bar so i know the turbo is still coming in, just it feels like it\'s restricted the power. Had a aftermarket airbox with panel filters b4.
Ne1 have any ideas?

Cheers

p.s cheers Lee for coming round the other morning!

could be gulping in load of air now and not putting enough fuel in or could be the outside temp. its dam hot and your taking all the hot air in the engine bay. box them in so they take air from the front of the car not the engine bay. buy the time the second turbo comes in you have an air flow to the filter, that might be why its ok then.....?

I was thinking along those lines! If it is sucking in more air than fuel (running lean i think), is it safe to drive? I\'m not driving it hard due to power loss anyhow. Is there anyway i can check it is running lean myself?

Box them in and cold feed them some how. I think after market filters are one of the worst mods to do especially on the stock twins which generate so much heat when being rinsed, all they do is make the stock BOV sound louder and create a bit of induction whoosh - worth sucking hot air into a turbo rotary for???  Hardly any of them filter any where near as well as say a K&N element in the stock air box either I dont think - and the stock airbox is of course cold air fed without having to piss about doing it yourself...

Swap back and see if things are better, shouldnt take too long ;)

Make sure the piping going to the primary turbo (front one) hasn\'t collapsed, or is soft and collapsing under vacuum (when the car makes boost)

Pipe seems fine, doesn\'t seem to flex too much! I know other people with induction kits on their FD\'s, which all seem to run fine, so I\'m thinking that the mixture might need adjusting. Altough I\'m sure the hot air theory doesn\'t help it?

Not sure that lamba is the problem but go see some one with a WBo2 who can check it out if its eating you up!

No idea who is any where near you though; Geff (RE:Worx) is in Portsmouth and has a MoTeC PLM but I doubt that\'s particularly handy for you though!

What other mods is done to the car, I very much doubt the filters would make you run lean

Only other things r a HKS super dragger exhaust (which was already on it), and blitz BOV. Just come home from work in it and it did seem a bit better, might try making a heat shield and putting a pipe from the bumper through to the filters for more cool air!

I\'ve got the HKS induction kit as well mate. After spending some time on the US rex forums, I have formed the view that the stock position of the HKS intake is way too far up the engine back to suck in cool heat.

I\'m looking into getting some extension pipes for the filters from America. They are a good price, was thinking of getting them, only like $60

Just gonna try them out, run a new induction pipe down the drivers side intake to get some air flowing. Ideally I would have a decent heatshield to box it in too but nothings grabbed me as of yet.. don\'t fancy making my own as i\'m too lazy ;)
The Beatles were prats.."Money can\'t buy me lovveeee".. utter rubbish. You can buy love here

Buy my car foo! :D

Does the engine "ping" under load etc.?

If it is hot - then it is not a good indication of how the car is going to go anyway.  Does it go any better late at night?

With your mods. I would seriously look at getting more fuel into the engine (larger fuel pump, adjustable reg., PFC or equivalent), but again this should really be checked using a proper wide-band lamba sensor as Rich has mentioned.  You need to know if it is borderline or not.
Thanks,
