Hi,

Latest \'bug\' with the car: I am pretty confident that my rev counter is over reading by about 500-1000revs. Or possibly the more revs it does, the more it over reads by!

I am confident that it over reads by the following factors: I found a gear chart on this website, and found what revs i should be doing at what speeds in what gear. The chart showed, that at 2000rpm, in fouth, i should be doing more or less 40mph. However, my rev counter reads 2500rpm. Also, I am not sure if there\'s a rev limiter with the stock ECU, but the change gear buzzer comes in at about 8500-9000rpm - well past the read line. The blast from the change-ver between turbos on WOT is also later than 4500rpm. I am confident that my speedo is accurate as the speed limiter kicked in at exactly 112mph (Obviously this was on some private test track, in a non-disclosed part of the country! :D)

Could it be a similar problem that occurred to my speedo which was sticking and needed replacing. The difference being though is that the speedo would sometimes return to normal readings, whereas I can not recal the rev counter doing the same.

I am truly confused!

the rev counters are notorious for being faulty mine used to jump around and needed replacing

if its not jumping around and is just consistently over my the same amount it is possible to strip it and very gently adjust the needle back to where it should be, thats what i did with mine and it works fine now. good excuse to paint the dash while you are there..  :D

Cheers guys. Either new one on the way, or rebuild it! I know what I\'m doing this weekend! :D
