Hello

My Fd has a weird idling problem start the car from cold goes on cold start and comes down slowly as it warms up.   It normally idles at about 850 rpm but when you drive a away and then come to a stop and let the car idle it sits at 1500rpm give it a little rev and exhust gives out a little pop and goes back down to 1000 rpm but takes about 5 secs to go down to 850 rpm.

Any ideas?   I think it could be the fast idle sticking ?

Cheers

my car does something similar, drive it and 80 percent of the time when at standstill it will idle at 1100 rpm give the throttle a blip and it will go down to idle that its set at (800). I have been told it could be a few things, possibly a dirty throttle body, hopefully it shall be cured in the next few weeks and i could then let you know. :)

Hello mate think i have sorted mine.   I have downloaded the manual and have used the dianogstics bit.   It said could be either the idle control vavle or the accelerated warm up soloniod.  But as the jap spec cars dont have the warm up one i took my idle control one off cleaned it out with brake cleaner and has seemed to of fixed it.   10 mins mate try yours

Its eay to get to.  It bolted to the back to the upper inlet manifold with two 10mm nuts. Just by the bluk head Its the only thing there with a white connector going to it.  Its alloy where it bolts to the manifold and has a black metal cylinder onit with is the soloniod.
