Can anyone help with photos and/or tech stuff on the Moffat Mazda Rx7 Group C touring cars from the eighties in Australia.
Cheers

OLSKOOLROTAR

I know there was 3 cars that he had built and raced 1 was his test car and the other 2 were for racing and a spare. The 3rd from what I remember was sold on Ebay last year for around $27,000, it was in original race trim etc, even his name was still on the car. I loved watching that car fly around the track on the telly when I was growing up. I\'m at work so I\'ll do some more digging when I get home.

Yes I remember that car too Jase! Bathurst hasnt been the same since it became all ford v holden. I reckon your best bet for sourcing pics would be ausrotary. Do a search on there and I am sure you will turn up spme good info and pics.
 cheers, michael.

Damn I used to have a book on that car. Awesome!

Thanks for you help.
Keep the info coming. I want to turn my car into a replica for sprinting and hill climbs.
Madness probably but I am mad for it!!!!
I raced mine on the weekend and had some encouraging results. Enough to make us go to Lyden Hill in Kent on 29th Oct for another blast.
We interupt this marrige to bring you the racing season

Try search E-bay for "ALLAN MOFFAT\'S RACING RX7 MAZDA",
good readable book(84 pages)
Contents of rotary power, building the RX-7,Le- mans,Daytona-24 hrs etc.
For the tech stuff, " THE AUSTRALIAN MAZDA ROTARY HAND BOOK"
by John Wright, another good reading book for FB car.(168 pages)
Hope it will help!
Good luck with your motorsports and good to hear another one race up the garden path.

Oldone, are you serious???????  There is one down the road from me, I dont know what year it is though. The body looks in pretty good shape, though I would need to go and check for rust etc for you.

Every weekend I go to my sailing club and I see this poor car and I think "one day I will make that a racing car".

I will go and see what the reg is that might help ? Its 2 tone, metallic red with Silver at the bottom. It looks standard so I dont think its been messed about with.

Shall I post a picture?

Do I seem keen?  I know its only metal, but I feel sorry for this poor car, and I wonder what it\'s story is? I would love to go and fetch it and get it going, but I am subject to a "no more cars" ban at the moment!  Besides, I ve got too many projects already :-(

Surely there was a point where the Rx-2s,3s, and 4s were worth nothing and they were just getting chopped up and thrown away. Now we struggle to find them.  Are we at the same point now with 1st gen RX-7? Many are being discarded I am sure, then in 10 years time ( maybe less) there will be a demand for them again?

Dankie swaer, that will be great.....Ang is real interested....she had a 84 silver,17"\'s,220\'sh horses on the wheels...she was a poser.....sold it to Brits and his mates for 25 big ones to get deposit together for house (buy to rent jobs).... :wave

Right, I dont know why I didnt see this reply before. I will go tomorrow at lunch time, and take some piccies, and I will knock on the door and see if someone can tell me the story behind this car! If not, I will try on the weekend again.

Oh Yes, I just hate it that its standing there, I would love it to go somewhere useful and be running again.

That model was one of my first rx7\'s, lots of great things happened in and on that car. :rollin
