Idle speed

Hi all,
 I notice when I finish driving that the car is idling at about 1200rpm. If I dip the clutch and select a gear, without taking my foot off the clutch the revs drop to 750-800rpm.
 I pressume this is not a problem, but any idea\'s whaat might cause it?

Just ran a search there, sorry to drag this thread up from the grave but i\'m having EXACTLY the same problem with my FD.

Car idles grand under every condition EXCEPT when you put the clutch in, it\'s fine but when you select a gear without even pulling off the clutch the idle goes all funny?

Could it be the clutch switch? Heard this can cause this problem but I don\'t even know where it\'s located!!

Anybody shed some light?
