Hi Everyone,

I am reworking the dash in my FD at the moment and part of that is to replace the stock speedo with an autometer electronic speedo that reads square pulses.

I know in the FD this output is available from the speedo head - which I have separated from the dash.  Now there look to be about 16 wires on this head but which wire or part of the loom is the in/out for the speedo pulse - I know one must take the signal to the speedo and then the square pulse is generated and the signal sent back to the ECU.  I need this output wire.

Anyone, Anyone.... Bueller....

Thanks

Dave

So no-one has an answer to this - has anyone ever taken their dash apart before?

I\'ve taken my instruments off......but don\'t know which wire you\'re looking for!

The connector and wires are part of the dash loom as follows:

Dash Group - C1-01
Pin Numbers - 3C and 3A (input / output) (i think)
Wire Colours - Yellow/Red and Yellow/White

They run out of the dash loom through to connectors X15 and X14 staying the same colour until the run from X14 to C1-08.

X14 and X15 are common connectors
Where as C1-01 and C1-08 are specialised connectors.

I bascially just wanted to know if anyone else has done this and if so how did they do it.  I can get there in the end but it\'d be nice not to have to mess around with the multimeter for an afternoon.

The tripple has a complete set of autometer guages,  all the stock ones were binned.  We just used the autometer electonic pick up on the prop as it self calibrates.  Very easy to do.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Looks cool.

Did you use the stock sender then and just take the input from that rather than the speedo head.

I re-read the instructions and it seems like you can do that, if you could tell me which wire you used that\'d be awesome.

Thanks

No,  the car has a cosmo auto g box so all the stock wiring is unused.  The autometer came with a complete pick up kit which attaches a magnet to the prop and a pick up next to it to read revolusions.  You then calibrate the speedo which is very easy.

I guess that one is slightly different from mine.

It appears from speaking to autometer that it can read the output from the gearbox speedo sender without any prior calibration work from the ECU or speedo head.

Which is cool.

I have a sender but it\'s for a GM Box and you can bet the Japs use a different thread...

It\'s got an internal calibration operated by the odometer reset on mine....

I\'ll let you know monday how it goes.... :d
