I know a few of you have had experience with EGis on here, ripped off my exhaust tonight (its dead) and just a few questions
(1)

what the hell is this pipe?
(2)

What the hell is this pipe and whats it do?
(3)

What are these 6 holes for?

i think brett is your best bet, but at a guess i would say air pump/cat thingies
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

FD3SNuttah

that small pipe is supposed to go to your air pump, it dilutes the emmisions to keep them low.

The other 6 holes in your exhaust i dont know! maybe they seat a gasket or are used to help locate it to the manifold?! i wouldnt worry about it..

Have you got yourself a new exhaust?

thebandit

I got bits to make an exhaust Nas :D gonna fabricate it and weld it myself (have a HKS back box knocking about)  ;)

thebandit

Right then, they arent half complicated things these EGi\'s :D

split air pipe will be removed as im gonna run a set up using a fully electronic system for ports etc etc. so one pipe down, god knows what the others do :D Ill investigate more tonight  :)

FD3SNuttah

nice one mate :) , make sure you post up some pics of your work!

grinder

yeah that looks like the air pipe to be honest - keeps the emmission OK at low revs

my EGI it had been taken off and passed the MOT OK

if you are loosing that - then loose the air pump aswel and fit the dual alt pulley

Hmm its not quite as simple as just getting rid of the ir pupm though. Unless you get ris of the main thermal reactor which is on the ports and block off the air injections valve system with a plate.
And if your going that far you WILL have emissions problems, it took me a long time and a lot of inginuity to get the emissions down.

Just out of curiousity brett, do you know what those 6 holes arrayed around my main outlet on the manifold do?

Brett

They have air flowing through them IIRC.  On the opposite end of the thermal reactor is the inlet fromt he air pump, this blows air around the reactor and through into the exhaust co axial system. (Thats what those holes are for...I think.)
I wont have a chance to have a proper check until I get back, but when I do I\'ll post to confirm or deny what I\'ve just said.

Just another quick Q Brett, is this the other smaller exhaust for the reactor? All these pipes for one exhaust confuse the hell out of me!

Brett

That pipe injects air in to the other reactor thats just before the Y piece I think.

hmmm interesting... lol

cheers for the info matey its much appreciated :)

I think that pipe may vanish ;) Now this exhaust system im just about starting to understand after 2 days of head scratching... lol. there was me thinking it was gonna be easy building something new, then to my suprise, jack the car up and... wtf are all those pipes  :eek

Plan for the weekend.... ditch emissions and build something free flowing and LOUD  :bandit
