Hi all
I have a 96 RB Bathurst.  The British version had 2 bins and it finished in 95
The Japanese version had 2 small seats at the back and no sun roof.  I believe the Japanese version is a touch faster.

A British "Bathurst" ?

Bathurst

A copy of an earlier post I made today...

Perhaps I can shed some light, as I own a 97 RB Bathurst Type X.

First there was never a UK Bathurst edition. The RX-7 in the UK was a touring version and came fully loaded with all the normal electric goodies, plus sunroof. It had 2 catalytic converters (pre cat and main cat) and this restricted its power to 237 bhp. It did come with storage bins as opposed to rear seats as it was only ever sold in the UK as a 2 seater. The UK editions ran from 92-late 95.

The "Bathurst" name was assigned to specific RX-7 models to commemorate Mazda\'s 4 consecutive wins in Australia at the Bathurst racing circuit against the likes of Porsche\'s 911 and BMW\'s M3.

Now there have been a few Bathurst editions over the years, the last one in 2000+ (yellow, Bathurst Type R).

Some Bathurst editions were based on earlier type R FD\'s others on type RB\'s.

The 97\' RB Bathurst Type X came in a 2+2 configuration, red leather seats and carpets, twin oil coolers, 16 bit ecu with 265 bhp and the whale tail spoiler. It came in only two colours, black or white with the \'X\' decal on the side pillar.

All had pre-99 noses except the 2000+ Bathurst Type R and most came in a limited colour range. Obviously some people later updated the pre-99 front bumpers to the later spec 99 nose.

Here is the Japanese website that covers the History of the RX-7 and the various models to date.

If you get a chance to drive the circuit,
Its much steeper than on TV.

Awesome 6klm race track on the side of Mount Panorama.
3 hrs drive west of sydney.

I took my old FC round there late one night.
I am sure they could hear the exhaust right through the town.

the track rises about 500ft i guess. I dont know exactly
the view across the skyline is awesome and the drop off is scary.

Famous parts are the Dipper. (like Laguna seca but steeper) and
Conrod straight down hill.. they had to put a kink in it as cars were reaching over 320k before they had to slow for the 90degree left hander. after 6 hours was a big ask.
always big brake fades and offs in the past.
