3rd gen rear speakers

Got the back of the rex out at the mo tryin to change the rear speakers but havin a slight issue with the depth of the 6x9\'s.
never seen such a shallow standard pair!
Is there anyway of fitting slightly larger ones without using the existing metal brackets?
maybe attaching to the actual panel or something?
would like a bit of bass as the exhaust is so loud.

i dont really want to go towards the sub thing as i really need what little space we have.

He reckons 6x8\'s is the way to go. Maybe it\'ll be of some help to you..........
