I cant seem to get the FD to start. I think that it is flooded but im not sure.

The car turns over ok, sounds like it wants to start but then doesnt. Checking the exhaust i have some white smoke in the exhaust but not spitting out.

Does it sound like a flood??

I have looked at the flooding thread and have a few questions on that.

1) To remove the spark plugs i have to take various bits off the plenum to get to them?? is that right??

2) The EGI fuse which needs to be removed? Is this the one in the fuse box next to the battery, 3 fuse down??

Bit ****ed off but i think im going t try and sort it out tommorrow.

Any help would be grand as im probably the least technically minded guy on this site.

Stu, do you have a tow rope and someone to tow you?

I managed to get mine going after a bit of a tow, stuck it in 2nd and pushed the accelrator down, it struck up

But to answer your questions, yes, sounds like its flooded....so no need to panic.

No need to remove the fuse on 3rd gens, and if you have slim enopugh arms you can get to the plugs, if not, take the elbow off the plenum.

Dan!!
Turned into the worst part of my life....my precious fd3 has gone, but never forgotten....roll on a new life!!!!

jack the car up and get the plugs from under neath.  pain in the ass but actually quicker and less cut hands/arms.

Get a short handle socket wrench and plug socket from halfrauds to use.  About £20 but money well spent.

Cheers guys. Im gonna give it a go tommorrow so ill let you know how i get on.

So i dont have to play with the fuses and its easier to try and go under the car.

Hopefully ill get it sorted, if not ill try and get the miss\'s to give me a tow.

Make SURE you pull the EGI fuse. If not you will still be pumping fuel in and you will also be sparking. Therefore big BANG!!!!
