I\'ve got an apexi fc and commander on order for my 93fd, but as i\'ve been roped into a RR day :D i\'m looking for a boost controller too.
I\'ve been looking at the Blitz SBC ID3 and the Apexi AVC-R and was just wondering if anyone has had any experience of either.  Or can anyone offer any alternatives???  I believe you can get an add on for the commander that allows you to use it as a boost controller....

I have tried the Apexi boost kit which plugs in to ecu and found it to be useless.Since then i have tried HKS EVC5 and Turbosmarts E-Boost and would recommend both. With the E-Boost you can set boost in 3 stages,1st gear,2nd and 3rd which is good for launches. It also has an output to control an external device in relation to boost.e.g.Water injection.

Awesome bit of kit,if interested call Clive at Shy Autos.

Like Gary found, the Apexi unit is crap IMHO. Others have also found this and moved over to the E-Boost or the Profec B.

Pip told me the profec B was the easiest to install etc & haven\'t heard anything bad about them so one trip to US ebay later & i just have to get it fitted now.....http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm46052GB\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_2_116.gif\' border=0>

There\'s a difference between the Power FC boost control kit and the APexi AVC-R electronic boost controller...! The former I\'ve heard nothing ood about but the AVC-R is well rated by lots of people and has a lot of features including rpm/gear based boost etc etc.

I think the Profec is probably one of the most popular and is very easy to setup and get excellent results with.

Selection really depends what you want from it?

Give Clive a call tomorrow at Shy,im sure he does discount for club members on Turbosmart gear.Cant comment on Profec as never used one,£200 is bloody good price though.

Found this bit on the apexi website about the optional boost control kit.  Someone must have it???

"BOOST CONTROL KIT
The Boost Control Kit is an optional kit designed to control boost through the Power FC. Simple connection to the Power FC allows the user to access a full self-learning boost controller. The Power FC allows up to 4 different boost presets for any stage of driving. The high grade solenoid valve is the same one used in our Super AVC-R boost controller. As with the S-AVCR, the Boost control kit allows increased boost response and boost stability at high RPM\'s"

As Gary says the Turbosmart E-Boost is an amazing  bit of kit and is the Aussies favourite weapon for boost control on Rotary\'s (and they know a bit about Rotary\'s:D)

Also unlike most of the other fully programmable controllers l have come across this one is easy to use once you have set it up initially.

Not at work ATM but we are official Turbosmart distributors and are able to supply you not only the E-Boost ( at around £380 ish from memory) but also any of the other much cheaper Boost controllers that Turbosmart make.

Hope this helps

The boost control kit (not the posher AVC-R etc) only allows 4 preset boost patterns on cars like the 200 sx Apexi ecu.

The Apexi ECU\'s for the FD hold two sets of boost levels.

I used it on my single turbo for about a month, it never worked particularly well, so got a profec b.

BTW, the solenoid valves are identical on both, but the profec is far better at controlling it!
