How do i prevent wheel spin when taking off in the wet (or dry for that matter).

Will a boost controller do the trick?

Can I have specific makes for parts so I can look out for them. Apexi, Blitz...all seem to come up.

Sorry if it all sounds a bit naive, if I don\'t ask , i won\'t learn!

Hope you all can help.

Thanks.

Hi mate
there is only one controller. Yeah right foot. Wont matter want boost setting you put it to, if you floor it you will lose it. The only thing that may help is a good set of tyres, make sure you DO NOT have jap rubber as that will be begging for trouble.

ok, good reply!

How about better traction control as a follow on question?

MikeLMR

what have you done with the suspension or is it standard ?

most people have the suspension set far too hard on road cars, lower spring rates on the rear will help with traction

g11ary

With a stock ecu, dont think you can do it.

Will start costing a few bob if thinking of changing just for traction.

Some thing like an AVC-R boost controller will allow you run low boost in low gears which will help \'disguise\' the problem a bit if u like. Traction/launch control systems (standalone or additions to your EMS) wont stop u spinning the wheels - it will just sense it and cut fuel/ignition until it stops then repeat cycle. Only things that will help are a) excellent rubber and b) appropriate suspension settings i.e. probably no coilovers or shocks/springs out of Japan! If you\'re rear end is like a rock you\'ll never be able to transmit much power to the road before it spinds up...

As Gary says, a sensitive and educated right foot is the best means of getting it out of the hole quickly :)

Thanks all. Yes, standard suspension for road use. I have new tyres on but not the best rubber, Uniroyal rainsports.

may look into a boost controller but for now, I am just glad to be back in an FD after a porsche boxster.

havign fooked my launches i was reading on sum of the US sites the general plan is to try launcing at 3500rpm & playing a bit more till you loose it so suck it & see as such but yeah rubber, suspension & boost will all have a bearing on such launches http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZS\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_13_16v.gif\' border=0> lol

Try fitting a new 1.5 LSD. That should help alot.

Charlatans!

Go back to your evo\'s with their four horse drive lsd computerised active moon landing skyline based remote formula one launch control!!

Burn the witches..... BURN THEM!!!

But seriously, an intuitive right foot is important for driving any kind of high power rwd car...saves on insurance and limbs.

scooby_si

&  just to be pedantic the evo & skyline systems are very different methods of controlling big bhp thru 4 wheels
