I have finally got my car registered ad took it out today for it\'s first real run, but i have a problem:(

Sometimes when you put it into first gear theres a thud from the diff area and sometimes the car seems to jump forward a fraction also when the gear box is cold the gearchange is a little clunky:eek:  is this normal????

but other than that i found it great to drive and it\'s a lot quicker than i thought it was going to be, seems to pull loads better than my Skyline did:D

From cold they can be clunky but should not jump forward, that tells me (no expert) that the clutch is not disengaging, and either needs bleeding or renewing.

It doesn\'t so much jump forward but more like rocks forward if you know what i mean? i did notice once or twice that when you change gear fast and dump the clutch you get the same sort of thud from the rear:(

that sounds more like rear bushes or dif mounts, would advise getting them checked out anyway, as handling may not be all that good.

Pip at WGT is probably nearest.

Will a local dealer be able to supply me with the bushes? and are they hard to change?

It\'s a type X which i thought was the touring model with softer suspension but the ride seem a bit firm so i must jack it up and see if it\'s had suspension mods done :D

May be, but you\'ll probably have to bend over and take the pain...

Fitting ideally needs a small press for removal of old ones and replacing with the new. There arent that cheap btw.

Just booked mine in on wednesday.  I got the very same noise when engaging 1st but no other movement, (dog to dog? and then engage?)

My main reason for getting them done is cause of another knocking noise but if it cures the gear noise then will let ya know.  Just booked into local mazda dealer but they dont know how much its gonna be cause they wanna check the car first - they will have whatever parts needed in stock :)  )

Ricco_04!  Let us know how it goes at the main delers to get it sorted as thats what is the problem with mine too.

I ended up breaking diff first followed by power plant frame as well as a new clutch.  Now,  that all of it has been changed the noice is still there and it could only be bushes or diff mounts.

Where can we get these from?  Does anyone know?

Cheers

henning (FDUK forum) has done his by himself.
he maybe able to advise.
I do remember him saying it was a nasty job plus the diff bushes need pressing in (you can\'t knock em in with a hammer n drift)

PS let me know how you get on. mine has the same prob

Well I’m sorry mate but the garage was completely useless.  Called on Friday and booked it in Wednesday.  Garage said they would confirm the time to be in, cost of service and cost of bushes. But by Monday lunchtime I gave them a call to see what’s going on.  Oh sorry sir, I will just get your file and call you back. Well no phone call so I couldn’t take the car in!!! I wanted to take it all the way up to WGT in the future so I guess then that the future is now! If you can wait then I will still let u know what it cured.

Just for info all service work for Mazda Kidderminster is carried out at Brooklyn Ford garage by Mazda technicians, so admin is done by ford and sucks!

I did however hear from the garage on THURSDAY!

Garage : Why didnt you bring your car in??

Me : "Well luv you are giving me two prices and havnt confirmed an appointment even though I rang you back twice!"

Garage : Oh well let me get your file (AGAIN!?!?) (5 mins later after already waiting 5 to speak to service!) Well sir we couldnt give you any prices cause we cant match your number plate and need the chassis number!

Me : Well why didnt you phone me to ask what it is?

Garage : No anwer!

Me : Ill go and get it and ring you back in 5 mins.

So I ring them back twice and no one is answering the phone anymore! :rollin - Well sod you then.  Looks like a 120 mile round trip to WGT, well worth doing from what I have heard about them :)

I\'ve got my car booked in with Tim @ RX Motors for Thursday to sort out noice problem.

After talking to Matt on the phone, he thinks it could be few things that could be wrong so i hope i do get it sorted on Thursday once and for all.

I will keep you guys posted.

Hi Chaps!
So here we go to an adventures journey to Tim\'s...lol
I Had to get up early so i can miss early mornin rush hour. left home round 7ish.. all happy and ready to look forward to a  long nice drive down the motorway..

:D

As i was on A406, just getting out of London it started to rain.. everyone slows down and in result the traffic jams...typical London A road..lol.   It took me 4 hours to get there and it was not as pleasent drive as i planned the night before...

Soon as i got there after a good chat with Tim, it wasn\'t long before she was up on the ramp again.  As the power plant came off first and Tim had a look at it,  It was snapped again and needs replacing.

Next thing was the Diff bushes and they were tottaly gone, which they think could\'ve been the cause of the problem as other bits looked ok.    While, Matt was changing the gear box oil, Tim had the old bushes out from diff brace in no time and started to press in the new ones.  It was\'nt exactly that easy but a (proffesional) made it look easy enough.

when the diff was down, it was easy to get to the fuel filter.  And they thought it was good idea to replace that as well.  It probably never got replaced in last few years.

The job was well done and it did not cost me an arm and leg.  There is no noice from rear as yet and no noice from the gear box.   The handling of the car is much better as i was floorin it on the way back even in the rain but to a safe limmit :D :D seriously.....

thanx to Tim and the boys and lets hope i don\'t see their faces again in any near future:D
:rollin :rollin

:wave

Next thing i am going to invest in is getting a diff brace fitted.  Tim will have some in stock soon.

Cheers
