I\'ve still got a bit of a problem with my 3rd gen rex.

Basically, when starting her it can be a bit hit and miss.  A lot of the time, i\'ll come to her, turn her on (:evillaugh) and she\'ll start first time.  Other times she\'ll take a few seconds (maybe up to 10-15 seconds) turning her over and then she go.  She\'ll often sound like she\'s about to catch then not...

She doesn\'t use any water, oil levels are good (ie she\'s not burning it beyond normal usage) and the exhaust fumes aren\'t all white or blue so confirms the above to be correct and ok (eg I don\'t think my seals are on the way out).  She\'s also recently been treated to a new Calcium 510 amp battery.

She\'s on 33,000 miles, idles quietly and pulls all the way to the redline without problem.  She did have a PFC which was removed by me a few weeks back and when this was in she started on the button, without fault.

What could it be?  Could it be the spark plugs?  She had new ones in a bout 1500 miles ago but the PFC did seem to run very rich.   She has 7\'s on the leading and 9\'s trailing.  Could it be the plugs are fouled by the way that the PFC ran her and so they are somehow tailored to how the PFC ran?  Would it be worth spending £50 on some new plugs?  Just don\'t want to spend the wadge when it might not be that.

Help would be appricated as its a tad embarrassing, as every one stares at the rex because it looks so nice and then everyone stares because i\'m sitting there yelling "start you *$%!!!!".  I don\'t take her out now for fear that i\'m gonna have to keep cranking her for 15 odd seconds and its breaking my heart having my baby just sitting there, not being driven :(

If she\'s turning over it wont be the battery connects so all signs would point to spark plugs???

Get them changed and see what happens??? if its not them then at least you got some new plugs for the service !!!;)

Correct me if I\'m wrong, but don\'t the FDs run overly rich at low revs as standard, and it\'s with the PFC that they run slightly leaner? If so then removing the PFC has made it richer and could well be fouling the plugs if the plugs have not also been changed to a lower heat range. That\'s what I think.
As you say, sometimes starts on the button and sometimes not. I\'d imagine that the times it wouldn\'t start on the button are those when it was left idling or driven really slow for longer immediately before you last switched it off.

Cheers guys :D - just a b^&$h of a job to do now :(

It does start better when i\'ve given her full charges.  I guess that points towards spark plugs as well :)

If its not them, what could it be?
