A short while ago I followed a mates directions and ended up down a road with collosal speed bumps down it - the square, tall in the middle of the road with cars parked either side variety.  I had loads of cars building up behind me so I stupidly decided to try and get over it...  crunch!!!  On inspection it seemed to have only bent the flap of metal which covers the connection to the long down pipe, so I bent it back into place and thought that was that.  But a few days later the engine began idling very low - especially when the headlights are not on!?!?!? - sometimes as low as 100rpm!  And then I noticed a pretty noisy burbling noise which seems to be coming from the cat.  I dont know much about the cat at all, but I remember reading the Cat on my 1992 Type-R is air cooled?  Is it most likely the seal to the pipe going to the air pump has been damaged?  Basically, if I bought a new cat would that solve the problem?

Cheers guys

I think you are talking about the tube from the Air Pump, if you get under the car (on axle stands!) you can see the pipe coming down from the top of the engine above the turbos, half way between the engine and the cat there is a rubber tube join, that could have come off, worth a look, a new cat would be costly,

Cheers Bob.  I\'ll get to that tomorrow - bit dark now!  I think the noise is more directly from the cat, though I\'ll have a better idea after a good look!  ;)
