i want to turn a targa 7 first gen RX-7 (It says targa but i dont think it atcualy has a targa top) into a real targa...does anyone have any experence in cutting tops off of cars and know anything about increasing the tortonal rigity....would it be easier to make T tops???

ok first things first.. the chassis will need a cross member (2 V shaped designs in the front and back ... this will stop the body from flexing.. then you need to re inforce the sides of the car..to stop what they call scuddle shake.. i think it is called. but non the less it needs to be strengthened.. as for cutting off the roof.... that is easy and strait forward.. almost.. you need to cut the roof off at the top of each supporting post and be very carefull around the windscreen front and back... IT IS IMPORTANT!!!!
otherwise when your cruising down the road... you will find they collapse... again more supports are needed for both front and rear..
to be completly honest.. i messed up on a jag that i was doing... found all this out the hard way... but if your not confident.. DO NOT attempt this on your own.. get proffesional help in doing this... better safe than sorry.... :bandit

i had one, and basically it sucked.  the car was flimsy and it leaked, so make a long story short
