Hello chaps

Im just about to get my engine sorted out and im toying with the idea of a big single turbo type thing but i\'ve herd that this will make the car almost un-driverble.
Just thought that i\'d see how other people get along with theirs?

What are your thoughts on this matter?

thanks peeps

How BIG? stuff like the 35/40 are no problem spooling up quickly and smoothly, bigger stuff (e.g. the T51 I\'ve driven recently) takes longer to spin up and has a mucher harder hit when the thing is wound up. Its not like u have no power below 5k tho...

I think in the end its rather down to personal preference. Myself, I\'d have a big turbo :)

EDIT: I\'d have a big turbo if it was with a biggish port and dowelled motor so you could use some decent boost.

Somebody mention big turbo hippy?????:rollin :rollin :rollin

Undriveable???? wouldn\'t go that far buddy, in the wet its dangerous but all sensible drivers will know their limitations, if its wet dont try to give it a blast!!! even on a dry day a straight lines diffecult:confused:

I\'d thought about using a T04 jobbie as its not too big but big enough to do the job (well so im told) and i just happen to have one kicking around and it would be a shame to waste it.

would this be a good choice?

Thanks chaps

T04 doesnt really mean any thing; coule be really small could be really big - what type of T04?!?

Rich is right,  you need find the spec, ie,  a/r sizes, wheel sizes.   A TO4b is small enough to fit 2 of them, TO4e is good for street use but generally slightly small for ultimate power although mines sees about 360 RWHP at 1 bar.  TO4s is good alround and TO4R is slightly larger.   If your gonna use something that isnt poven you will have a lot of trial and error.

Rich,  we will have to stop agreeing all the time.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Guys,

What is the average ballpark figure of getting a single put in and setup?

it depends on what level of tune you car is at now.  see my car in the for sale section to give an idea of some of the mods you will need, although you wont need all of them.
You need more fuel and an ECU.  It also depends how much you pay for a turbo kit and if everything else you need is with it, you can pick 2nd hand ones up for a grand or pay 4 grand for a new big one.  Cheaper to buy mine already done.....   :D

I knew i get a plug in there somewhere........... shameless:p

Hmmm,

Now I wonder, anyone willing to swap a clean, standard 94 UK spec for a older/higher mileage single?  Is it worth even considering this or should I just get my chequebook out?   :D

I might ring around the garages in the week and see what they reckon,  Oh and antnicuk if I had the funds waiting I\'d have yours tomorrow mate, lovely looking Rexy.  :)

antnicuk

Why thank you,   she doesnt just look good though, she goes very well too!

Why are you selling up?  Is there another project planned?

antnicuk

i want to build a car just for drag racing,  and have a car to drive day to day.   My car is too nice to strip out.  Thats why i will take a part ex for something as my road car.
