Since 1984, hundreds of the UK's best known classic car dealers, car clubs, service providers and traders have chosen the Classic Motor Show as their annual 'showroom' to reach the thousands of classic car and bike enthusiasts that attend this prestigious event.

https://www.necclassicmotorshow.com/

As the season finale, this huge event is a celebration of all things classic motoring, including everyday classics, thoroughbreds and prestige marques.

Dean Bayley, under an FD Owners Club banner, organised (superb!) small Mazda Rotary car stands at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 events, but he no longer owns a rotary, so the MRC are going to apply for a stand on behalf of the rotary community this year.

If you have a show-worthy Mazda rotary (any model through to the RX-8) then post up your interest in here. NO commitment (or guarantee) of a place at this stage, but we need to know by 3 April to be able to know potential numbers to formally submit a stand request.

The good news is, a place on the stand is COMPLETELY FREE to all exhibitors, plus you'll get a few "friends and family" complementary entry tickets too. Ticket prices have not yet been announced, but I believe they are typically about £40/day!

Note that your car HAS to remain on the stand from Thursday 7 Nov to Sunday 10 November. But don't worry, you don't need to be there throughout the whole period. There will be members on the stand throughout to keep a watchful eye on your pride and joy!

Here are a few pictures of the stand Dean organised in 2022 and 2023. The giant rotor was designed and constructed by him! The The aim this year is to have larger stand and it would be awesome to be able to display a good range of Mazda rotary models.

So, not a lot of time to decide, but if you are interested, post a picture of your rotary below to get your request in to grab a place on the stand.

Thanks for the great post, Malcolm.
I'm planning to be there again! (you already have several pics of mine on the stand  ;) )
I've attended the show for the last two years and can thoroughly recommend it. There is a great atmosphere amongst the exhibitors, and a huge amount of interest in the rotary engine from the 'punters'. For those who do stay up there for the four days, it's also great fun socially (as no-one is driving!  :occasion14: )
As this year is the 70th anniversary of Felix Wankel's first design of the engine (in 1954), it would be great to get some more models on the stand to join the FDs.
Hope to see you there!
Best wishes,
Lynne

Casey

Thanks Lynne.

Just for everyone's info, after discussion with Lynne, invites have also gone out to the RX7fb.com club and RX-8 OC.

Gosh, no takers? I know the 4 day commitment is a barrier, but free admission to the show, for the exhibitor and guests, is attractive.

I'm seriously working on the logistics of taking along my FB.

I will be at the show for all 4 days, probably with other car.  Possibility we could bring the FB but may not be able to spend much time on the stand as will be committed elsewhere.

The past couple of times we have showed a car we have not moved it out of the halls until the Monday morning to avoid the chaos on Sunday evening.

We have a hotel already booked from Thursday to Monday.

Dave

Casey

Thanks Dave. Good to know you will be at the show. Once we know if the MRC have a stand secured and number of spaces, we can discuss if you'd like to exhibit your FB or, presumably, take your GT40 as you currently have planned.

Good advice on the Monday morning departure!

What hotel have you booked? PM me if you prefer.

There is another option that we may well do and that is to take the car there and then collect after the event.

We did this when we were asked to show the RX-4 a few years back.

All the best Clive

Update.

I'm pleased to announce we now have confirmation that the MRC have been granted a stand at this show  :icon_thumleft:

However,  demand for space has been so overwhelming that the organisers have reduced the size of the MRC stand to half of what was requested. This means we can only exhibit 4 cars, rather than the planned 8  :( . With myself and Lynne Edmonds doing the organising, that means we already have her FD and my FB taking 2 spaces. It's likely we will opt to add 2 older rotaries to showcase the heritage of the Mazda Rotary model range. Sadly, a much scaled down display than we were aiming for. The RX-8 OC have been granted a 4 car area (also much reduced from their request) and their stand will be adjacent to the MRC stand - something both clubs requested.

On to better news, the MRC have received details of how to obtain discounted tickets to attend the show. I will post up details in a new topic shortly and post a link in here.
